How would you describe your style?
My main focus is definitely on the connections within your family. I will get you that nicely posed photo with everyone looking at the camera pretty much off the bat so we can let loose and spend the rest of the session having fun! I try to work pretty quickly due to the attention span of the kiddos but everyone is different and I’m able to read people’s moods pretty well so I can sense when we might need to slow things down a bit.
Where will our session be held?
One of the many, many parks/preserves in our area, an urban setting, by the water, or even your home! I am totally down to hear your ideas and if you need help deciding, I can throw mine out as well.
What time of day do you schedule shoots?
I usually only schedule my sessions an hour or so before sunset. And if the kiddos need an extra nap to stay up, it’s completely worth it. There is nothing more beautiful than that warm, magical glow in a photograph.
What should I bring to my session?
First off, make sure everyone has been fed. It’s always a good idea to bring water and maybe a couple snacks if there are little ones. I don’t use props but if there is a specific blanket/quilt you’d like to use, pop it in the trunk— otherwise, I have a couple that I leave in my car at all times specifically for sessions (along with a few items in case of emergency like wipes, safety pins, light snacks, etc.). Maybe bring an extra outfit for the littles- ya just never know!
What should we wear for our session?
I fully believe we feel the most beautiful when we’re comfortable so I recommend mom or dad choosing their favorite outfit first and coordinating the rest to compliment each other. Try to avoid any lettering or bold prints that might distract— people tend to focus in on those types of things first and then they kind of miss out on the feeling within the photo. What if my kiddo/kiddos are less than thrilled with a photoshoot?
I have an 8 year old son, so I get it. My sessions are meant to be natural & fun so embrace the moment and let those personalities shine through! This is exactly why I get the posed photos done right away. Just to add, I’m a big fan of a little innocent bribery— maybe ice cream after?
What if it rains or a family member is sick?
I mean, it’s Ohio. We are well-aware that the weather can be kooky. I recommend choosing a backup date when scheduling, just in case.
How long will the session be?
Typically one hour, unless we’re having so much fun that we just want to keep it going a bit!
When do I get my photos & how many can I expect?
You will have your digital files in your personal online password-protected gallery within two weeks. I will send you a text/email with the link and instructions on how to download for personal use. I deliver at least 50 fully edited images for families and 35 for the Milestone package but I almost always include more. They’re your memories after all!
Where should I have my photos printed?
There are a million ways to go about this but I’ve found mpix.com to be the best. They offer a discount for first time orders and they’re really careful with their quality and delivery process. I don’t recommend using Costco, Walgreens, Walmart— you get the gist. The quality suffers greatly. If this is overwhelming for any reason, just let me know and I can point you in the right direction.
OK, we’re ready to book! What next?
Yay! I’m excited to work with you! Please CLICK HERE to fill out the contact form on the next page. I’ll then email you the password to my booking page where you’ll be able to choose your session date (and a backup date) from my calendar. After that, you’ll be prompted to fill out a questionnaire so that I can get to know a little more about you and your family. You will also have the option to ‘pay now’ or ‘pay later’— either way it will be completed through PayPal. After that, we can just look forward to our session together!
